David Gallagher co-founded LitFund after eight years in the litigation finance business and eleven years as a litigator. David was most recently Co-Head of Litigation Investing at the D. E. Shaw group, a strategy he helped launch 2018, building a front-office team, working with legal, compliance, investor relations, and other internal groups to develop policies and procedures, and co-managing the entire investment process. David sat on the board of the International Legal Finance Association from 2021-2023. David was previously an investment manager at Omni Bridgeway and a litigator at Akin Gump. David earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School, an M. Phil. from Oxford University, and a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College. He is currently licensed to practice law in the State of California. In his spare time, David sometimes enjoys being the compliance officer, interior designer, and window washer at his wife’s Pilates studio.
